ISSUE 1: SEDIMENTS OF TIME
Call for Submissions for ETUI Magazine Issue 1
Sediments of Time
Fashion develops from sediments of what has come before. Designers explore archives, unearthing forgotten elements, reviving past silhouettes, and reinterpreting historical garments. Sometimes, fashion aims to break through these layers to create something new; yet even the most radical innovations arise from the foundation of what preceded them. Just as personal memories resurface and reshape our understanding of ourselves, fashion, too, is in constant dialogue with its past.
We are eager to collaborate with contributors from various disciplines who are passionate about text, visual media, fashion, and textiles.
Submissions should range from 500 to 3000 words.
If you’re an artist, photographer, designer, or creative in other forms you are also very welcome to reach out.
Please note that submission does not guarantee publication.

Issue 1
Sediments of time
To be released autumn of 2025
Keywords: time - memory - nostalgia - archive - revival - remembrance - becoming
Time does not simply pass - it settles. It layers itself upon bodies, textiles, and cultures, leaving traces of what once was. Like sand collecting in the creases of fabric, like worn hems whispering of past journeys, like perfume lingering in a coat long after its wearer has left. Fashion is a vessel for memory, a fabric woven with the threads of individual and shared histories.
Fashion develops on sediments of what has come before.
Let this issue be a wave that seeks to stir the layers of memory and bring what has settled into view. Sediments of Time explores how memories take form through fashion, clothing, and textiles, shaping both personal identities and collective experiences. This theme is open to further interpretation, allowing for diverse perspectives and reflections. Whether through personal narratives, historical analysis, artistic exploration, theoretical inquiry, or a combination of them, contributors are encouraged to consider how memory and time weave through fashion.
